The Everyday Body:

Move better in the body

you live in every day.

Ā

A 6-week functional yoga course for women over 35
to build ease, strength and confidence in everyday movement.
Tell Me More

Everyday movement should not feel this hard.

Getting up from a low chair shouldn't make your knees complain.

Sitting on the floor with your kids or grandkids shouldn't mean planning your exit strategy before you sit down.

A full day at your desk shouldn't leave your lower back nagging at you by 3pm.

You notice changes in your balance, mobility or confidence, and you know strength is becoming more important. But knowing that doesn't make it clear where to begin.

One day you're told to walk more. The next, walking apparently isn't enough. Yoga is good for mobility, until someone tells you mobility is pointless without strength. Then strength becomes the answer to everything, along with heavier weights, more protein and another list of things women over 35 are supposedly getting wrong.

Maybe you don't want to join a gym. Maybe you enjoy walking, yoga and moving at home. Maybe you're not chasing the hardest possible workout, you just want to know the movement you already enjoy is working for you, and how to build on it as your body changes.

The answer isn't to abandon the movement you love.

It's to build the foundations that help that movement do more for you.

Learn how to move well enough that strength becomes useful and flexibility stops being the goal.

Strength matters. But it is not the starting line.

Strength is important as we age. But simply lifting heavier does not automatically mean you move better.

The same goes for flexibility.

If flexibility were the answer, the bendiest bodies would be the strongest and mostĀ  pain-free. They are not.

The goal is to move with enough freedom, control and support that your body feels capable in daily life.

That is what The Everyday Body helps you build.

So strength becomes useful.

Flexibility stops beingĀ something you chase.

And yoga becomes what it was always meant to be: a way to move through life with more ease, strength and freedom.

By the end of six weeks, you'll be able to:

  • Get up off the floor without using your hands, and sit down into a chair without lowering yourself carefully into it
  • Sit at your desk for a full day without your lower back nagging at you by the afternoon
  • Bend, reach and twist through your day, tying shoes, reaching overhead, turning to check your blind spot, without a second thought
  • Walk further and recover faster, because your hips, core and legs are working as a team instead of one area doing all the work
  • Know when to push your body and when to back off, instead of guessing
  • Build strength that actually carries into your walks, your yoga practice and the rest of your life, not just strength that exists in a class

You'll leave with a movement foundation you can build on for years, not a six-week fix you forget by October.

I'm Ready to Move Better

Ā

I am a third-generation yoga teacher and Ayurvedic lifestyle coach with more than 18 years of teaching experience.

My approach to yoga is not about pushing the body into increasingly complicated shapes.

I teach women how to understand their bodies, build useful movement foundations and develop strength, mobility and confidence without rushing or forcing.

The Everyday Body brings together traditional yoga, functional movement and practical strength to help you feel more supported in the body you live in every day.
